Yeah scratching up games does suck. I've done it a few times myself. Luckily, there is a way for you to backup the games just in case situations come up like this. You will need to unlock your Wii and install Homebrew and then you will be able to backup the games right on your Wii. There are two different ways to get Homebrew onto your Wii. You can either do the Twilight Hack which requires a copy of Zelda: Twilight Princess, or there are some files and software available online that you just save onto an SD card and upload into your Wii and follow a few other steps. The Twilight Hack is a bit more complicated and it only works on certain Wii menu versions. 3.3 and 3.4 are the only ones I believe, so if you've upgraded your Wii menu version at all, you wouldn't be able to do the Twilight Hack. The other method I mentioned is a lot easier though and it will work for any version, even 4.2. There are a few places where you can find the required files and software that you need, but I recommend going here: howtobackupwiigames.net/ Along with the files, you will get an instruction manual and even a video guide that will walk you through the whole process of installing Homebrew onto your Wii and backing up your games. You do have to pay a small amount of money for the files and the guide, but it's only like $29 and definitely worth it compared to the price of buying a new game every time you or the kids scratch one up. It's just a one-time fee of $29 and then you will never have to worry about the kids scratching up another game again which will save you a ton down the road. That's the same site I used when I was installing Homebrew onto my Wii and it worked out really well and their guide makes the process really easy. I hope that helps you out.
