I am interested in following a Video Game career path too and heres what I found on the subject. Being a designer,You need to be artistic.You need to think outside the box when you are creating something because you are creating it for gamers,Not for yourself.Being a designer will take years of college to do and if you are sucessful,you can make some big bucks.

There are colleges JUST for Video Game Designers, don't just go to any college that offers a program for it. Since it may be bad, do some research and pick the one right for you!.
